Mega Bash Alex Sensation Goes Dominican with El Teteo de Dembow

Mega Bash Alex Sensation (DisobeyArt/Adobe)
Mega Bash Alex Sensation (DisobeyArt/Adobe)

Mega Bash by Alex Sensation is a Latin urban music concert of reggaeton and dembow stars produced by La Mega 97.9 and La Música. It used to be more Puerto Rican reggaeton, but is becoming more Dominican dembow.

Mega Bash 2025 by Alex Sensation Goes Dominican

Mega Bash 2025 by Alex Sensation “El Teteo de Dembow” goes Dominican with El Alfa, Lapiz Conciente, Yalin La Mas Viral, La Insuperable, Crazy Design, Vakero, Donaty, Lomiiel, Yaisel LM and more; at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey; on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 8pm (7pm doors). From $71.

I have watched Mega Bash change over the years from a reggaeton concert to a dembow concert. It’s a testament to the growing power of Dominicans in New York City. Dembow is the sound of the street in the Dominican Republic, a derivative of reggaeton. A teteo is what in New York we call a “car meet” by cars with over-the-top sound systems and lots of young people on motorcycles and scooters. Unlike New York or Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic has moto (motorcycle and scooter) culture. A teteo is young Dominicans doing what kids (mods and rockers in the rock film “Quadrophenia”) called scooter rallies in 1970s England.

  • El Alfa is the world’s most famous dembowsero. His collaborations with Puerto Rican reggaeton artists helped launch dembow out into the world. He also helped make Capotillo 42 famous. That’s the Santo Domingo neighborhood, one of the most dangerous in the Dominican Republic, where dembow comes from. Dembow is evolving, but its origins are straight up strip club gangster rap. You can’t imagine how people live in Capotillo, but the music, dance, and style are great.
  • Lapiz Conciente is a Dominican rap pioneer.
  • Yalin La Mas Viral (“Bing Bong,” “Chapa”) came up through social media and has grown as a performer from a girl into a woman.

Mega Bash 2024 by Alex Sensation

Mega Bash 2024 by Alex Sensation is a night of dembow, reggaeton, trap, and urban pop at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey; on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 8pm (7pm doors). 🇨🇴 🇩🇴 🇵🇷

It’s always a great show. Alex Sensation is one of America’s top radio DJs. They don’t have to carry the whole show, so the talent is very relaxed. Many of these artists collaborate, so this is like a night out with friends.
