New York City Center Celebrates 80 Years With World-Class Dance, Plays, and Musical Revivals


New York City Center is one of New York’s premiere homes for dance and Broadway musical revivals. It was The City’s original performing arts center.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre is in residence.

Signature dance programs include the Fall for Dance Festival, Flamenco Festival New York, and the City Center Dance Festival. Artists at the Center is a heavy-hitter choreographer’s residency. Studio 5 gives intimate looks at great dancers’ creative process.

The Manhattan Theatre Club is in residence.

Encores! is a program of Broadway musical revivals, many of which go back to Broadway.

New York City Center has a relationship with Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, one of the world’s leading dance theaters.

About New York City Center


New York City Center is The City’s original performing arts center. It was founded by beloved Mayor Fiorello La Guardia in 1943, to make the performing arts accessible for all New Yorkers. It is still fulfilling that original mission.

The Center also has a long history developing contemporary dance in Cuba. 🇨🇺

Festival Schedule

The Fall For Dance Festival is usually in September and October. Tickets usually go on sale at the end of August. It always sells out on the first day of ticketing.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater usually dances its fall season in November and December.

The Flamenco Festival New York City Center is usually in March.

The City Center Dance Festival is usually in July.
