Pioneer Works reopens with two art exhibitions that explore the impact of monumental structures on the human psyche.
African American Art
Le’Andrra LeSeur “Monument Eternal” is an art exhibition and video installation that explores the legacy of racist monuments on Black communities, in particular Stone Mountain in Georgia. It’s at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn; from September 6 – December 15, 2024. 🇺🇸
Mexican Art
Alejandro García Contreras “¿Quién no ha intentado convertir una piedra en un recuerdo?” (Who hasn’t tried to turn a stone into a memory?) is a mixed media art exhibition that explores the psychological impact of ancient monuments on the contemporary mind. Cultural Center Gala
The Pioneer Works Gala 2024 features performances by the Resistance Revival Chorus and DJ Black Helmet; art installations by Rachel Stern, Alejandro García Contreras, and Ashcan Orchestra; plus food by BITE Catering. From $1,500. 🇺🇸 🇲🇽
