The Red Bull Batalla 2021 Spanish Freestyle Rap Battle gives tomorrow’s Freestyle stars a chance to shine today. It is the world’s largest Spanish Freestyle Rap Battle, and one of the most respected.
Freestyle is a form of Latin hip-hop that came up in the 1980s in Puerto Rican and Dominican communities in Upper Manhattan and Italian communities in Brooklyn. These are rap battles, but the music is usually sparse electronics. It came up in the time of early Madonna.
Marc Anthony and La India are a couple of salsa legends who were freestylers before jumping into salsa. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Freestyle Love Supreme, In the Heights, Hamilton) is arguably the world’s most famous freestyler. We also have to mention Residente of Calle 13. He really speaks to the feelings of the Latin street. In freestyle, the sky is the limit.

Red Bull Batalla 2021 Season
The 2021 Red Bull Batalla Season determines who will represent their countries in the World Finals in December.

This is basically the world cup of Spanish Freestyle Rap.
USA Qualifiers
The New York qualifiers were held on a Brooklyn rooftop in June. Now we get to the final rounds. Who will represent as the USA champion?
USA Finals
Red Bull announced 36 qualifiers on June 30, 2021. A panel of judges will review 1-on-1 Twitch battles to choose twelve American finalists on August 12, 2021 at 7pm ET.
The judges include Tito Yang, the first MC to represent Puerto Rico in the World Finals; Kim MC, the first woman to win Venezuela’s National Championship; and El B the twice Latin Grammy nominated Cuban rapper. You’ve better be good to meet their standards. 🇨🇺🇵🇷🇻🇪

Sixteen rappers (13 qualifiers and last year’s top 3 returning finalists) will compete for props and the golden belt at the U.S. Finals in Los Angeles on September 18, 2021.
Red Bull Batalla 2021 World Finals
The champions of ten countries will do ultimate battle in person in December. The date and venue are to be determined.
