La India is “La Princesa de la Salsa”
La India is a legendary Salsa singer from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico who grew up in the South Bronx.
Her musical journey started with Puerto Rican New Yorker DJs Louie Vega, and John “Jellybean” Benitez where she was doing Freestyle.
Eddie Palmieri pulled her into Salsa. “Llego La India via Eddie Palmieri” (The India has Arrived via Eddie Palmieri) is a classic Salsa album.
Later she worked with Marc Anthony and Celia Cruz who named her “The Princess of Salsa.”
She has had ups and downs, but keeps coming back up with more amazing music. Birds just fly.
