Arjona’s debut album Déjame Decir Que Te Amo (Barca Discos / Dideca, 1985) was a failure so Arjona went back to teaching.

In the 1990s Arjona appeared in Mexican telenovela Alcanzar una Estrella (Reaching a Star). The exposure increased his popularity across Latin America.

Its hit singles were Mujeres and Primera Vez. The followup Historias (Sony Music, 1994) produced the hits Te Conozco and Señora De Las Cuatro Décadas.
