‘Rigoletto’

‘Rigoletto’ is a three-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi that premiered at La Fenice in Venice, Italy in 1851.

Francesco Maria Piave based the  Italian libretto on Victor Hugo’s ‘Le roi s’amuse’ (1832).

There is a good chance the song you hear in your head when you think opera is ‘La donna è mobile.’

The Act III quartet ‘Bella figlia dell’amore’ is also popular for how the character’s personalities are rendered in the music itself.
