Dominican & Puerto Rican Salsa
Yiyo Sarante & Charlie Aponte sing Dominican and Puerto Rican (No Hay Paraiso) salsa; at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey; on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 8pm. From $71. 🇩🇴 🇵🇷
How interesting to pair Dominican and Puerto Rican salseros because salsa sounds a little different everywhere it is played.
Sarante is one of the top Dominican salseros. His biggest hit is “Corazón de Acero.” I like “Mi Todo” and “Que Agonía.”
Charlie Aponte “El Sonero del Pueblo” was one of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico’s most famous lead singers. Fans call him “La Voz.” His Gran Combo hits include “Arroz con Habichuela,” “Brujeria,” and the holiday favorite “No Hay Cama Pa’ Tanta Gente.” If you love salsa, you can’t miss his voice. He is 75 now, so go see him.
Colombian Comedy
“Recarguese de la risa” is a night of Colombian comedy featuring Piroberta, Don Jediondo, Bruja Dioselina, La Paty, and Viejitos Sordos; at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey; on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 8pm (6pm doors). From $42. 🇨🇴
There names and characters alone crack me up.
