The Lunar New Year Parade NYC 2023 Has Dragons Dance Through Manhattan Chinatown to the Lower East Side

February 5, 2023 by New York Latin Culture Magazine

Lunar New Year Parade (Julie Feinstein/Dreamstime)

The Lunar New Year Parade NYC 2023 is an old Chinese and East Asian tradition. The dragon dances through the streets to ward off evil spirits. The dancers pick up tips from businesses on the route.

It’s a Chinese tradition that is celebrated by the Chinese Diaspora throughout East Asia, Southeast Asia, and wherever there are chinatowns.
