Tulipa Ruiz is a multi-talented, Latin Grammy-winning Brazilian singer-songwriter of MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira). She is a star among the new generation of young Brazilian singers.

Tuesday, July 30, 2019 ~ Ruiz is joined by Duda Beat and Filipe Catto at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village at 6pm. From $20

This show brings together three strong young artists from the Brazilian scene.

2018 ~ Ruiz recorded her acoustic album here in New York. It features percussionist Mauro Refosco of Forro in the Dark.

2015 ~ Ruiz won a Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Pop Album.

Growing up in Santos, São Paulo

Tulipa Ruiz Chagas was born in Santos in São Paulo state on October 19, 1978.

Growing up, she worked in her family’s record store. She was a journalist for almost ten years when she started drawing. She illustrates children’s books, album covers and a concert posters.
