Ana Villafañe hosts a ¡Viva Broadway¡ “El Conjunto”, a Hispanic Heritage Month cabaret series at the W Hotel in Times Square on Sundays September 15 & 29 and October 13, 2019 at 7pm.

“El Conjunto”

In Spanish, a conjunto is “a set” or playlist. Musical Director Justin Ramos expects to host Dyllón Burnside (Pose), Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer (Hadestown) and Ana Isabelle (Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story) and other Hispanic actor working on Broadway, television and film.

Ana Villafañe

Villafañe made her Broadway debut as Gloria Estefan in On Your Feet! The Musical ~ The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan. She has since jumped to television on NBC’s Sunnyside and New Amsterdam.

Villafañe is an American from Miami with a CubanSalvadoran heritage. She really has a big Broadway voice.

¡Viva Broadway!

This is the Broadway League’s Hispanic outreach program. The Broadway League is Broadway’s trade association. Most years it produces a free or low-cost set of Broadway performances during Hispanic Heritage Month.

The percentage of Hispanics who attend Broadway shows is far lower than the percentage of Hispanics in New York City. ¡Viva Broadway! is not only about making money off of us. It’s also about increasing the diversity on Broadway.

Puerto Rican New Yorker Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Hamilton, Freestyle Love Supreme) has Broadway producers looking for the next great Broadway talent.

The Hispanic world has strong theater traditions, but if we never take our children to the theater, they won’t see it as a possibility.

So take your family to ¡Viva Broadway! You just might be the parent of the next Lin-Man or Lin-Woman.

There aren’t any Spanish-language shows on Broadway, but there are some Off-Broadway. The Broadway League provides Broadway show information in Spanish here.

Thanks to the Broadway League for including us.
