Calpulli Mexican Dance Company and Queens Theatre bring Mexico’s rich Día de Muertos tradition to the stage. Lupita is taken to Mictlán, the world of the dead, where she meets La Catrina who gives her one last chance to say goodbye to her beloved Raul.
It’s the biggest performing arts celebration of Día de Muertos in New York City. All ages are welcome.
Before the 8pm show on Sat, October 17, a Mictlán Reception at 6pm turns the lobby into a Oaxacan cantina, with a monumental ofrenda, a wall of memories, and a meet-and-greet with the dancers. Reception tickets are $30.

Xiomara Laugart is the seven-time Grammy-nominated singer known as “The Voice of Cuba.” If you hear “Guantanamera” in the Havana airport, it’s probably Xiomara singing it. Her career spans more than three decades and more than seventeen albums, and she played Celia Cruz in the Broadway production CELIA: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz.
Here she fronts a big band led by her son, Musical Director Axel Tosca. Expect Cuban tradition meeting the improvisational spirit of jazz, with every note aimed at Havana.
She is really fun and Axel rocks.

Eva Ayllón is known as the Queen of Landó and has been a legend of Afro Peruvian music for more than 50 years. She received the Latin GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, after 10 earlier nominations for Best Folk Album.
Landó is a smooth, sensual, and soulful rhythm and dance derived from Central Africa’s lundu tradition. The salsa or samba-like energy of Afro-Peruvian festejo is better known, but landó is to festejo like Cuban rumba yambú is to guaguanco. It’s musica romantica or Peruvian pop. The African core remains in the rhythm and percussion.
Peru is known as the Indigenous Inca heartland, but the coastal population used to be very African-descendent. We have mostly blended in, but the traditions remain, and are increasingly cherished. They are part of who we are. Ayllón is one of the top artists in the Afro Peruvian tradition.
Rising star and Latin GRAMMY nominee Daniela Darcourt adds her own flavor of Peruvian salsa. Two forces of nature, one night of Peruvian rhythm.

Charo is a two time Flamenco guitarist of the year, as voted by Guitar Player Magazine, and a graduate of the Segovia Institute. She is a household name, instantly recognizable for her big blonde hair, bubbly personality, and charming wit.
She is really fun to see in person, but underneath all that showmanship is a classic flamenco guitarist. That is the tension that makes her show so entertaining.

Two love stories share one stage. One couple’s romance blossoms to the rhythms of salsa with a dynamic salsa band, and the other’s hearts beat with a soulful bachata group.
Songs, dancing, and the joys and challenges of love make this a Valentine’s Day for anyone who loves great Latin music. The evening is presented in English and Spanish.
This is so New York because Dominicans (bachata) and Puerto Ricans (salsa) share many of the same neighborhoods. There is native Dominican salsa, but it sounds different from Puerto Rican or New York salsa.
