The Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival is a week of performances, talks, and workshops by leaders in women’s tap, hip-hop, flamenco, street dance, Irish step, and more. Iroko Kíko Keith ~ In twenty years of studying Latin culture, I learned that women, though often held back by society, are the truest guardians of culture.

Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival presents performances by Donnetta Jackson / MADD Mixtape (tap), Maria Torres (Latin jazz dance), Nélida Tirado (flamenco), Liliana Morales (flamenco) and Leah Bañales (flamenco); at the 92NY Buttenwieser Hall in Manhattan’s Upper East Side; on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 7pm. From $17. 🇺🇸 🇨🇺 🇩🇴 🇵🇷 🇲🇽

Love this lineup with top Mexican and Puerto Rican flamenco masters. It’s not a stretch because much of the Americas were once New Spain, and many Latinos give their kids flamenco lessons for a heritage education.

Never heard of Latin jazz dance before, but it is Latin dance with jazz dance technique for Broadway and film. Latin dance is about connecting with your partner. Latin jazz dance is about connecting with your audience. You have to project your energy in different ways.

Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival presents performances by Chelsea Hoy (Irish dance), Fritzlyn Hector (Afro percussive dance), Irene Koloseus (tap & West African dance), and Mai Lê Hô’s LayeRhythm (house dance); at the 92NY Buttenwieser Hall in Manhattan’s Upper East Side; on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 7pm. As brothers, Sérgio and Odair have a special sixth sense with each other that allows the two guitars to play as one. This is special concert because The Assad Brothers launched their international career at the 92nd Street Y in 1980.
