Alejandro Sanz “Y ahora qué” Tour in NYC

Alejandro Sanz in NYC is one of the most popular Spanish singers of all time. The multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy winner is one of the artists who made flamenco pop. He’s really a pop star now, but you can still hear the flamenco quejío (flamenco cry) in his voice.

His 2025 EP “¿Y ahora qué?” won the 2025 Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Pop Album. The lead single “Palmeras en el jardin,” was a goodbye to his Cuban girlfriend Rachel Valdés.

Alejandro Sanz “Palmeras en el jardín” (2025) is a meditation on the pain of breakup

He had literally planted tropical palms in his Spanish garden to try and make her feel at home, but came to realize that stuff can’t make up for a lack of connection. The connection is the whole thing. The video is a beautiful expression of the pain and loss of a breakup.

“Bésame,” his reunion with Shakira, was also a hit. Sanz expanded the EP into an album with several collaborations with younger stars, including “Hoy no me siento bien” with Grupo Frontera. It’s a cute story about how when you’re down, everything seems to go wrong.
