Alex was born Javier Alexander Salazar in 1979 in Bogotá, Colombia. He came to the States as a child.

Alex started DJing in New York City clubs as a teenager by hiding his age. He got his bachata and merengue chops when he started out playing in Dominican clubs. A gig at the Copacabana led to radio and becoming #1 in New York City.

Now Sensation is a reggaeton and latin trap guy, but he plays it all.
