Atlético Madrid Rivalries

Atléti’s main rival is cross-town team Real Madrid. Our games are the Madrid Derby (El Derbi Madrileño). Spanish soccer has political overtones. Atléti is a team of the working class. Real is the team of the establishment elite.

We also play fiercely with FC Barcelona. Atléti, Barcelona and Real are usually the top three teams in La Liga.
