The National Indigenous Peoples of the Americas Parade is a celebration of Indigenous culture on the native continuum from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego. It’s organized by Lenape Native Americans (the tribe whose land became New York City), but all Indigenous Peoples of the Americas join in. That’s pretty cool because Latin America is mostly Indigenous.
The opening ceremonies and parade are an opportunity to learn about Indigenous culture, including storytelling, singing, drumming, and dancing; and traditional clothing. It’s a great opportunity for New York photographers.

Madison Square Park to Union Square
The 4th National Indigenous Peoples of the Americas Parade 2025 lines up in Madison Square Park at 26th St in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, at 9am, with an opening ceremony featuring drummer Red Thunder Bear at 10am. The Parade marches through traditional Lenape hunting grounds, down Broadway to 17th St at Union Square; on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12-2pm. The closing ceremony features Pueblo Nation Apache Crown Dancers. FREE. 🇺🇸

National Indigenous Peoples of the Americas Parade
The Parade is organized by Lenape visionary Firebird Graywolf. The Lenape are the First Nations of what became New York City. The parade marches down Broadway, the old Lenape trail, through Lenape hunting grounds.
If you study traditional cultures of the Americas, you can’t help but notice how similar we all are. Watching Native Americans dance at a powwow sometimes looks a lot like the way Mexicans dance cumbia or some of the Regional Mexican dances. Whether we know it or not, our heritage lives inside of us.
