Nicky Jam is a Puerto Rican Dominican American Reggaeton and Latin Trap singer-songwriter and actor. He was born in Boston, raised in Puerto Rico. When life got messy, he moved to Medellín, Colombia and cleaned himself up.

Nicky Jam Came Up from the Streets
Nick Rivera Caminero was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 17, 1981. He was raised in Barrio Obrero, Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a kid, he worked at a grocery store and used to improvise out in front. He got his nickname and stage name “Nicky Jam” from a street person there.

January 20, 2017 ~ Jam released his seventh studio album on Sony Music Latin. It was nominated as Album of the Year for the 18th Latin Grammys 2017. The title refers to the Phoenix bird that rises from the ashes of its own death.

October 2016 ~ Nicky Jam’s Hasta el Amanacer (Until the Dawn) hit #1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart October 2016.
Jam Works again with Daddy Yankee
In 2012 Nicky and Daddy Yankee recorded El Party Me Llama (The party is calling) together. When you get off drugs, it takes a while, but you get your life back. Bravo.

Vida Escante
Jam became a global star with 2004’s Vida Escante (The crystal meth life). It was followed by Vida Escante: Special Edition in 2005.
Needless to say, with that kind of life, things didn’t go well for a while. Nicky and Daddy Yankee had a falling out in 2004. Their partnership ended for a while. Nicky moved to Medellin, Colombia to recover. The people embraced him and Jam started his recovery.

Nicky’s career grew with 2001’s “Haciendo Escante” (I’m making crystal meth).
Distinto a Los Demás
Nicky Jam recorded his first album “…Distinto A Los Demás” (Different From the Others) when he was eleven years old. It wasn’t a commercial success, but got picked up by DJs in Puerto Rico. Producers noticed.
Nicky continued songwriting and met Daddy Yankee, the father of Reggaeton, during a recording session. The two became friends and started working together as “Los Cangris.” The duo had hits with “Sabanas Blancas”, “Guayando”, and “Sentirte.”
