SummerStage Salsa Dance Class

Ernesto & Denisse are international teaching artists. They are teaching salsa for young people and families.

Sin Salsa, No Hay Paraíso

A little salsa is the perfect medicine if you’ve been losing your mind while stuck at home. Like the Gran Combo de Puerto Rico sings, “Sin salsa, no hay paraíso” (There is no paradise without salsa).

Club salsa in New York City is one thing, but in the Caribbean we dance with our families. In Cali, Colombia, stage salsa is part of family culture. It’s an expression of belonging to the community and your individuality within the community. Families who dance salsa together stay together. And its something you can enjoy your entire life.

Salsa is African through the Caribbean, but everybody dances salsa. You don’t have to be Latin. Ernesto and Denisse will help you shine with your own flavor, something sabroso (tasty). Who knows, some day on the dance floor, you might even find your own little slice of paradise.

Ernesto and Denisse

Ernesto and Denisse are amazing on stage. Don’t worry, the class is not this.

Ernesto Buines “El Watusi” is a Honduran-born, Miami-trained former principal dancer at New York’s Yamulee Dance Company.

Denisse Cambria is Argentine from Miami. Yes, she dances tango too. July 9 just happens to be Argentine Independence Day.

Ernesto and Denisse are partners in The New York Movement, who are 4-time large team world champions.
