Tablao Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of New York City’s leading flamenco dance organizations.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana “Tablao”

Wednesday-Friday, October 16-18, 2019 ~ Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana brings a tablao show to Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, NYC at 7:30pm. Tickets from $20

Tablao

Flamenco was originally done at family gatherings at home. Big families might gather in a cellar or a cave.

Families learned they could make a little money dancing for visitors and flamenco moved into bars. This is flamenco tablao. It is where the dance became a profession.

The tablao is literally the platform where the dancers perform. It is necessary because flamenco breaks the floor.

Grand flamenco shows travel the world’s great stages, but in Andalucía, the flamenco heartland, in the tablao is where you will find the flamenco.
