Vincent Desiderio Recent Paintings

Ten oil on canvas works are led by Dead White (2019), a 12 foot long canvas that feels like an underground altar in a world of dreams.

Desiderio says of the work, “I began to realize that the painting had become something of a monument to time itself.”

This is the artist’s tenth solo exhibition at Marlborough.

Vincent Desiderio

Desiderio’s work illuminates meditations on life at the borders of heaven and hell. He gives the feeling of Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch with hints of surrealist meaning.

The Italian-American artist was born in Media, Pennsylvania in 1955.

He studied at the Fine Art Academy in Florence, Italy and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Desiderio is a National Endowment for the Arts Painting Grant winner.

His work is in collections at the Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo, New York, Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Desiderio’s painting Sleep was the inspiration for Kanye West’s Famous video (2016).

The artist lives and works in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
