Wisin y Yandel Are the First Reggaeton Artists to Win a Grammy

Wisin y Yandel are the first Reggaeton stars to win a Grammy Award.

Wisin y Yandel

Both Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin) and Llandel Veguilla Malavé (Yandel) are from Cayey, Puerto Rico.

Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio

Work on a couple of compilation albums led to Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio (The Kings of the New Millennium, 2000). It reached #35 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Los Extraterrestres

Los Extraterrestres (Machete Music) won a 2009 Grammy® Award for “Best Latin Urban Album,” a 2008 Latin Grammy Award for “Best Urban Music Album,” and a Lo Nuestro Award for “Urban Album of the Year.”

Siguelo was the album’s first single.

Líderes

The duo’s ninth studio album took a more dance pop approach with collaborations including lead single Follow the Leader featuring Jennifer Lopez. The album peaked at #1 on the Billboard’s U.S. Top Latin Albums chart.

Break

The duo took a break on good terms to pursue solo projects in 2013. They are back in 2018.
