Doc Fortnight
Doc Fortnight is MoMA’s annual international festival of nonfiction film. The festival focuses on innovative approaches to the documentary form including the latest technologies and delivery platforms.
17th Doc Fortnight 2018
Doc Fortnight 2018 is daily at MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown, Manhattan from February 15 – 26, 2018.
This year’s festival focuses on the voices of the marginalized. It is screening over 20 new feature documentaries and many short films, a retrospective of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, 1991) who died in 2017, and two-week long world premiere screenings of George and Out of My Head.
Feature documentaries come from around the world including Brazil, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Mexico, Morocco, and Peru.
Most of the screenings are World, North American, U.S., or New York premieres. Many filmmakers will be present for Q&A discussions.
Doc Fortnight 2018 is organized by Guest Curator Kathy Brew with Gianna Collier-Pitts.

Jonathan Demme Retrospective
Demme won a Best Director Academy Award in 1991 for Silence of the Lambs. The three-day retrospective includes Haiti: Dreams of Democracy (1988) and Stop Making Sense (1984) which is about New York’s own David Byrne and the Talking Heads who followed Modern Art’s trajectory into the music of Africa and the world.
