Carlos Fuentes
One of the most influential Mexican novelists, an essayist and diplomat who was a central figure in the Latin American Boom of the 1960s and 70s, was born in Panama City, Panama (son of a Mexican diplomat) on November 11, 1928. He is best known for La muerte de Artemio Cruz (The Death of Artemio Cruz) 1962, the deathbed memories of a Mexican Revolutionary turned corrupt billionaire pondering how the Revolution failed its own ideals.

The main American family day celebrates a real 1621 harvest feast of Plymouth colonists and Native American Wampanoag that was falsely dramatized as the U.S. creation story. The first European thanksgiving in the Americas was in Spanish St. Augustine, Florida in 1565.
