Looking out over Chelsea NYC from the High Line (Albachiaraa/Dreamstime)

There are really two Chelseas: a warehouse district along the Hudson River, and a residential district inland.

Eighth Avenue is Chelsea’s main street.

The High Line is the big tourist draw. The elevated rail line to the Meatpacking District has been repurposed into a linear park. Who would have thought that an elevated rail line could be so beautiful?

The old Nabisco cookie factory has been turned into Chelsea Market with restaurants and shopping.

The Joyce Theater is New York City’s international dance theater.
