New York Philharmonic Concerts In the Parks are a Great Way to Start Summer


New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 is a series of free concerts at New York City Parks in all five boroughs.

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 plays classical classics and new music, including some very young composers in Van Cortlandt Park, The Bronx; Central Park, Manhattan; Cunningham Park, Queens; Prospect Park Brooklyn, and an indoor program of string quartets at the St George Theatre in Staten Island; Tuesday-Sunday, June 11-16, 2024. FREE! 🇺🇸 🇪🇸

The outdoor program is conducted by Thomas Wilkins with violin soloist Randall Goosby. It features Beethoven’s “Egmont” Overture (1809-10), Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor (1844), and Elgar’s “Wand of Youth” Overture (1869-1907). Works by NY Phil Very Young Composers include “Floating in the Stars” (2023) by Dalya Shaman (age 16) and “Tarzan’s Rage” (2023) by David Wright (age 10). The program concludes with the New York Premiere of Carlos Simon’s “Four Black American Dances” (2023), and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio espagnol” (1887) based on Spanish folk melodies.

Central Park, Manhattan

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 plays classical classics and new music, including some very young composers on the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan; on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 8pm. FREE! 🇺🇸 🇪🇸

Enter the park from Central Park West at 81st or 86th St, or from Fifth Avenue at 79th or 85th St.

Cunningham Park, Queens

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 plays classical classics and new music, including some very young composers at the 193rd Street Field in Cunningham Park, Queens; on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 8pm. FREE! 🇺🇸 🇪🇸

Enter the park from 193rd St, near 81st Ave and Union Turnpike.

Prospect Park, Brooklyn

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 plays classical classics and new music, including some very young composers in Prospect Park, Brooklyn; on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 8pm. FREE! 🇺🇸 🇪🇸

Enter the park from Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park West at 9th St, Bartel-Pritchard Circle at Prospect Park West, or Prospect Park Southwest at 15th St.

St George Theatre, Staten Island

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks 2024 plays chamber music by Mozart, Clarke, and Prokofiev; at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island; on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at 4pm. FREE!

Concerts in the Parks

The New York Philharmonic started this beloved summer tradition in 1965. New York City was a very different place then.
