Staten Island Latin Culture

Staten Island is a quiet, suburban borough that feels more like New Jersey. It connects to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry, and Brooklyn via the Verrazzano Bridge. The Staten Island Ferry is the best free ride in New York City.

Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry is one of the best rides in New York City, and it’s free. If your ancestors arrived by boat, the return ferry to Manhattan follows the route from which your ancestors saw New York City for the first time as they passed the Statue of Liberty. It’s a spectacular trip!

Staten Island Government

Local government is provided by Staten Island Community Boards 1-3 working with the Staten Island Borough President.

New York City Council Districts 49, 50, and 51 represent the Borough.

The Borough is represented by New York’s 11th Congressional District.

Staten Island Parks

With over 170 parks, Staten Island has been called “The Borough of Parks.”
