New York Fashion Week September 2021 is Reborn

Dominican Archive, Fashion, Fashion Shows, French Archive, Italian Archive, Mexican, Nigerian, Puerto Rican, Spanish Archive, Spring Studios, Venezuelan Archive / September 8, 2021 by Editors

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) used to be for the trade only and very elegant. Major designers from around the world presented because it was the big show in the world media capital. [Editor Keith Widyolar was a fashion photographer who used to shoot fashion weeks in New York and Saõ Paulo.]

But in the last decade, NYFW became an expensive, consumer-oriented social media moment. The glamour evaporated and the fashion got watered down too like California casual wear. Global brands disappeared. They preferred to show in Europe where elegance still reigns, and put their budgets into making fashion films for YouTube.

We’ll see, but NYFW tries to reset itself this season. Some of the European brands are back and there is a new focus on Black fashion designers. Will elegance return? That’s the big question.
