Padrino de la Musica Latina
Sanabria’s “West Side Story Reimagined” was the Jazz Journalists Association 2019 Record of the Year and was Grammy nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album.
Bobby is one of those guys who can play something for you, and then explain the entire music history of it. He is a living encyclopedia of Jazz, Latin Jazz, and music in general. We love to watch him play West African polyrhythms. It’s quite the magic trick.
Sanabria is one of the padrinos of Latin music in New York City. Berklee College of Music is famous for producing exceptional Latin Jazz musicians. It’s hard to imagine now, but Bobby was the first one.
Bobby’s big outfit is the Multiverse Big Band. His small outfit is Quarteto Aché.
