An exhibition of Cuban artist Manuel Mendive: Nature, Spirit and Body interprets narratives of Yorùbá-Lucumí culture from July 25 to November 4, 2018.

An exhibition of sculpture by Syrian – American artist Diana Al-Hadid: Delirious Matter is on view July 18, 2018 to October 14, 2018.

In the exhibition Eddie Martinez: White Outs, the artist explores erasure in his painting practice. It is on view November 14, 2018 to February 17, 2019.

The museum was founded in 1971 as a partnership between the Bronx Council on the Arts and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum moved to it’s current location in 1983.

“The Accordion” expansion opened in 2006. From some angles it looks rather like a Cubist United Nations.

The museum is led by Holly Block who has had a long association with Cuban art.
