A Sunday of Ecuadorian Culture in Flushing Meadows
The Ecuadorian Festival of New York closes out Ecuadorian Heritage Month (August) with its 12th edition, taking over the grounds outside the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 11am to 6pm.
Organized by the Comité Cívico Ecuatoriano de Nueva York, the same committee behind the Desfile Ecuatoriano parade a week earlier, the festival is the culminating celebration of the season, drawing Ecuadorian families and neighbors from across Queens and beyond.
Expect a full day of live música with regional bands, folkloric dance troupes performing traditional styles from the Sierra, Costa, and Amazon regions, and a lineup of food vendors serving Ecuadorian staples like hornado, encebollado, and llapingachos. Artisan crafts, community organization booths, and activities for children round out the grounds, making the festival as much a family reunion as a cultural showcase.
The festival caps two weeks that begin with the gala banquet, parade, queen coronation, with the Desfile Ecuatoriano parade marching along Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights before landing here at Flushing Meadows. Parade info…
