Central Park is the home of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum Mile, SummerStage, Shakespeare in the Park, Global Citizen Festival, and Central Park Tango.

This photo is looking south with the East River on the left and the Hudson River on the right. The ball fields in the foreground are the North Meadow. The big lake is the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, New York City’s main water supply. New Yorkers walk around it like an exercise track. South of the reservoir are the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Great Lawn.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is New York City’s encyclopedia of art.

About Central Park

Central Park connects Midtown with Upper Manhattan. Harlem is above the Park at 110th St. The Upper West Side and Upper East Side are the Park’s wings. The bottom of the Park at 59th St is Midtown. The buildings that ring the park are the most expensive properties in New York City.

The top of Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Ave) is graced with memorials to José Martí (🇨🇺), Simón Bolívar (🇨🇴) and José de San Martín( 🇦🇷) because the Avenue was originally dedicated to the nations of the Americas.

The Park was built from 1857-1876 is entirely man-made, including the reservoir, lakes, streams, and even many of the boulders.
