About Lincoln Center

Most Latin culture begins in the poorest community. Lincoln Center was built on San Juan Hill, an African American, Puerto Rican, and Caribbean community. “The Jungles” was a hard, but wildly creative place. It still is. You have to be very good to make it here, but if you can, you can make it anywhere.

The famous Broadway show and movie, “West Side Story” was about life in San Juan Hill that was redeveloped into Lincoln Center in 1964.
