BAAND Together Dance Festival 2025

BAAND Together Dance Festival 2025 brings five of New York City’s leading dance companies: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Hispánico, Dance Theatre of Harlem and New York City Ballet; to dance ballet, modern, and contemporary; at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center; from Tuesday-Saturday, July 29 – August 2, 2025. Pay-what-you-wish, with a $35 suggested ticket price.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater dances Lar Lubovitch’s “Many Angels.” It’s an expression that while dancers just have to dance, the best dance like angels.

American Ballet Theatre dances Susan Jaffe’s “Midnight Pas de Deux.”

Ballet Hispánico dances Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s “House of Mad’moiselle,” a playful exploration of the symbols of Latina femininity. Latinas in the United States are Americans who largely follow American femininity standards, but femininity in the Latin world is a little different. Latinas in the Latin world have to deal with multiple cultures, machismo traditions (male chauvinism), and different forms of social stratification. But it’s all good. Lopez Ochoa is a Colombian Belgian international choreographer. Ballet Hispánico regularly performs her work.

Dance Theatre of Harlem dances excerpts from Robert Garland’s “Nyman String Quartet No.2,” his signature work about the many cultures that come together in the American Experiment. Dancers code-switch which is something all multicultural peoples learn to do, depending on who we are engaging. Garland’s message is basically that America is great when we stand for each other.

New York City Ballet dances Christopher Wheeldon’s “After the Rain (Pas de Deux).” Wheeldon choreographed the piece for Wendy Whelan and Jock Soto, with references to NYCB founder George Balanchine.
