Bloomingdale’s

Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan’s Upper East Side is one of New York City’s iconic department stores.

Bloomingdale Made the Department Store Fun

At a time when most stores sold just one type of clothing, Joseph and Lyman Bloomingdale sold a wide variety of fashion, including European fashion, at their East Side Bazaar in 1872.

Bloomingdale’s created its fame by selling many different products at a central location and making shopping fun. That brought galas, fashion shows, and the first designer shopping bags to the retail experience.

For a while in the 1970s, Bloomingdale’s was even a place to see and be seen. Today, Bloomingdale’s remains that cool department store with a subway station right inside it.

Bloomingdale’s 2018 Holiday Windows

Bloomingdale’s reveals its 2018 holiday windows at Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Monday, November 5, 2018.

This year’s theme is how the Grinch transformed from a grumpy loner into a lovable character.

There will be a celebration at the corner of Lexington and 60th St at 6pm.
