About Symphony Space

Symphony Space opened in 1978 after a free “Wall to Wall Bach” marathon concert in the Symphony Theater, a boxing and wrestling venue built in a former ice rink and market.

The Upper West Side was once a film district like Tribeca is now. The Thalia Theater used to be an independent arthouse theater where now famous directors used to hangout.

Theaters:

  • Peter Jay Sharp Theatre seats 756.
  • Leonard Nimoy Thalia seats 168.
