New York Rhythm and Blues (R&B)

Rhythm and Blues NYC or (R&B) is a form of Urban Blues that developed in the 1940s during the Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to the urban Northeast.

The “Blue Note” or diminished 7th, call and response, the twangy steel guitar sound, and warbling on one note originate in Mother Africa.

Blues is the root of American popular music. From the Blues, we get Jazz, Country, Swing, R&B, Rock, Rap and Trap.
