Gonzalo Fonseca (Montevideo, Uruguay, 1922 – Seravezza, Italy, 1997) was a Uruguayan artist known for his sculpture.
Fonseca was a painter who studied in the studio of famed Uruguayan modernist Joaquín Torres-García in the 1940s.
Fonseca became a sculptor in the 1960s. He was influenced by the remnants of ancient civilizations he saw in Asia and Latin America.
Fonseca moved his studio to Italy to have access to good stone.
