Indigenous Peoples Day NYC 2023 is an Indigenous pow wow with prayer, storytelling, singing, dancing, art, and fashion. The three-day festival on Randalls Island ends with a sunrise ceremony on Indigenous Peoples Day. Camping is available.
Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples of the Americas join in the festival. Latin in the Americas is a mix of Indigenous, European, African, and Asian. South of the U.S. border we are mostly “mestizo,” a mix of Indigenous with everything else.

The Pow Wow is a protest against Columbus Day because Columbus was an evil man who enslaved Indigenous peoples, brought a pandemic which killed 90-95% of America’s Indigenous population, unleashed a genocide against the remaining people, started the TransAtlantic trafficking of human beings, and brought European thievery, rape, enslavement, and murder to the Americas. There is nothing honorable about that man or the Colonial Era.
