NYC Pride Parade 2025 is the climax of New York City’s June festival of LGBTQ+ culture. It celebrates the Stonewall Uprising of 1969 which energized the Pride Movement.
NYC Pride Parade 2025
NYC Pride is a series of events that reach a climax with Youth Pride, the NYC Pride Parade (Pride March), and PrideFest street fair.
2025 Theme
This year’s theme is “Rise Up: Pride in Protest.”
This year’s celebarations are a little weird because of the way our own government suddenly turned against the American people. That makes it all the more important to celebrate Pride. When governments fail, the people band together to survive. The LGBTQ+ community has moved mountains before and will move mountains again. Keep Pride and Carry On.
Come to think of it, Pride has always been about standing up to the bully. We just want to be left alone to live our lives as we choose. That is supposed to be what our country is about.

NYC Pride Parade Theme
This year’s theme is “Reflect. Empower. Unite.”
So this is about individual freedom, but in the context of the community at large. The LGBTQ+ community made social progress farther and faster than almost any other community, but the backlash has been harsh. It’s worth taking a breath to consider how we move forward together, not as a separate community, but as an integral part of the American fabric.

NYC Pride
Every year, millions of spectators watch more than 700 groups marching in pride. It gets very crowded, especially in Greenwich Village and the West Village. One year, we got swept away in the crowd. That’s a strange feeling because you’re not really walking, just flowing wherever the crowd goes. But everyone was having such a good time, that it was cool. Just know that the crowds are huge.
The first NYC Pride Parade (NYC Pride March) was held in 1970, the year after the Stonewall Uprising. What started as a community movement has grown into a major civil rights demonstration. Most people call it the NYC Pride Parade, but the organizers call it the NYC Pride March to respect its civil rights origins.
New York is more comfortable with its Queerness than many other places, so this is a great festival. The Stonewall Uprising at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village on June 28 – July 3, 1969 gave a big push to the Pride Movement. This is a celebration of that moment when people stood up against bullying. They just wanted to dance without being harassed. We all want that. If all of us aren’t free, then none of us are free. Show your Pride or show your support!
Information
Heritage of Pride produces Manhattan’s official parade and festival, but there are many Pride events across New York City.
