Morningside Heights

Morningside Heights is a quiet residential neighborhood on the hills of Upper Manhattan. It has beautiful views of the Hudson River and the rooftops of Harlem. Broadway is the main street.

The Suzanne Vega hit “Tom’s Diner” is about the diner in Morningside Heights. She sings about the bells in the cathedral, which is the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.

The neighborhood is home to Columbia University so it is full of teachers and students. It is also the home of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Riverside Church, the Manhattan School of Music, Riverside Park and Grant’s Tomb.

Tom’s Diner from the Suzanne Vega song (1987) and Seinfeld is on Broadway at 112th. It’s just a diner, but it’s kind of fun to go there. Do-do, do-do, Do-de-do-do…
