NYCFC (New York City Football Club) is New York City’s Major League Soccer team. It plays from a modified field in Yankee Stadium.

The club is co-owned by the Yankees and Manchester City, so you see the City model of football.

NYCFC’s arch-rivals are the NY Red Bulls who play from in Harrison, New Jersey (basically Newark) across the Hudson River, but still in the New York Metro Area.


MLS Cup Post Season 2019

NYCFC won first place in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference so they enter the playoffs in the Conference Semi-Finals.

NYCFC New Head Coach Domènec Torrent

The story at the beginning of the season is new coach Domènec Torrent. The former Spanish midfielder gained prominence as legendary Spanish coach Pep Guardiola’s assistant at FC Barcelona’s second team in the 2007-08 season.

The two won many trophies together at FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City until 2012.

Twelve out of the team’s 25 players have a Latin heritage. So it’s about half. Designated players earn more than the standard salary cap

Dan Bedoya #21 is a midfielder from Colombia.

Valentín Castellanos #11 is a midfielder from Argentina.

Tony Rocha #15 is an American midfielder.

Juan Pablo Torres #14 is an American midfielder.

M. Moralez is a midfielder from Argentina.

Latin Forwards

Alexandru Mitriță #28 is a forward from Romania. (Designated Player)
