The 2018 Parade honors the Panamanian province of Colon.

2018 Panamanian Parade Gala Fundraiser

The 2018 Parade Gala is at Giando on the Water on the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 7 – 11 pm. $120 – $150

Meet the 2018 honorees and leaders of New York City’s Panamanian community.

Willie Panama and his Orchestra will play Panamanian classics for dancing.

2018 Panamanian Day Parade Assembly & Ceremony

The Parade assembles at Bergen St and Franklin Ave in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Parade participants assemble at 9 am.

The Parade’s opening ceremony is at 10 am.

2018 Panamanian Day Parade Route

The Parade starts at Bergen St and Franklin Ave in Crown Heights, Brooklyn at 11 am – about 2:30 pm.

The Parade:

  1. Marches down Franklin Ave to President St.
  2. Turns west on President St to Classon Ave and the Street Fair.
  3. Turns north on Classon Ave and ends at Eastern Parkway.

The former banker and President of Ballet Folklorico Panameno Norberto Basilio Mowatt was born in Bethania, Panama City.

Ms. Jean Gould

The former fashion designer is known for designing Panamanian polleras (colonial Spanish dresses) for Panamanian cultural organizations and quinceañeras. She was born in Bocas Del Toro, Panama.

The Street Fair is at President St and Classon Ave from 11 am – 6 pm.

The parade assembles at Franklin Ave and Bergen St.

The parade route is:

  • Franklin Ave at Bergen St
  • Down Franklin Ave
  • President St to Classon Ave
  • Classon Ave to Eastern Parkway

There is a Panamanian Street Fair at the end of the parade.

Panamanian Day Parade Honorees

The Special Guest is Urenna A. Best Gayle. She is the Director General of the National Secretariat for the Development of Afro-Panamanians (SENADAP)

The 2017 Grand Marshals are Honorable Shawndya L. Simpson and Jose F. Francis.

Ms. Simpson is a New York State Supreme Court judge in the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District.

Mr. Francis is the producer and host of the New York City cable television show Rinconcito Panameño en Nueva York.
