Support the Ailey Spirit Virtual Benefit “Still We Dance”

June 18, 2020 by New York Latin Culture Magazine

Ailey Spirit Virtual Benefit "Still We Dance" (AAADT)

The Alvin Ailey Virtual Benefit features a striking interview with Alvin Ailey himself and rare performances online at alvinailey.org through June 18, 2020 at 7pm.

Ailey Spirit Virtual Benefit, Still We Dance

The performance features commentary Angela Bassett, Cynthia Eriva, Leslie Odom Jr., Tim Shriver, Bryan Stevenson and Lorraine Toussaint. It’s really uplifting.

It’s a crazy moment in American history, a moment where we can win everything or lose everything. Yes Black Lives Matter.

In the face of Black Lives Matter protests and all the trouble I’ve seen, the one thing I really want to see now is Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performing “Revelations” live with live music. It is bucket list.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has the healing spirit that we need. We always needed it, are going to need it a lot in the future, and need it right now to get through this.

“Am Injustice for one is Injustice for all. And still we dance. ,” Robbert Battle Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director.

We dance because this is how we process life. It’s how we turn life’s sorrows into joy and how we share our joys with others. We dance to show that we belong to a community. We dance to show our individuality. We dance for love and love is all we need.

Still we dance.
