Things To Do in NYC in June 2026

Things to do in NYC in June, Pride Month (Alexander Grey/Pexels)

The FIFA World Cup, National Puerto Rican Day Parade, and NYC Pride Parade are among the best Latin things to do in NYC in June 2026.

NYC’s summer festivals arrive: Bryant Park Picnic Performances, SummerStage, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, and Summer for the City.

June is NYC Pride Month and Caribbean American Heritage Month. The national holiday is Juneteenth National Independence Day. Italy, Philippines, Mozambique, Madagascar, and DR Congo also have national days. Father’s Day is a popular tradition.

Spiritual days honor Saint Anthony/Eleguá/Papa Legba (June 13), Saint John’s Eve/Midsummer/Fiestas de San Juan (June 23), Saint John/Ogún/Ti Jean Petro (June 24), and Saints Peter and Paul/Ogún/Papa Ogou (June 29).

This is an important day in many African Diasporic traditions. In the Colonial Period, it was a rare three-day holiday when enslaved peoples were allowed to rest, gather, and celebrate their own heritage traditions. The Baptist’s association with water was a natural fit for the sacred nature of water in many African and world traditions, including the Kalûnga of ancient Kongo. People used the chance to gather freely, to plan resistance. Wouldn’t you? Coincidentally, the time of the year mirrors West Africa’s rainy season where the new year begins in some traditions.
