The Creole Food Festival is an annual showcase of Black and Brown chefs from the American South, Mother Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. It’s all about Creole food and drink.
In our world, “Creole” means good. You may notice that Creole cooking is the root of a lot of American cooking. It’s one of the proof points of how African we are as Americans – regardless of our personal heritage or identity.
This is a great date. You know that live music means that we will be dancing.

“Creole” means different things to different people, but it generally means the various Indigenous, European, African mixes of the people of the Caribbean and Latin America. Depending on where you are, either the African or Indigenous traditions now dominate, but in truth we are all mixed.
The similarities between traditional Indigenous and African food are really striking. And a really traditional American meal is good old Southern cooking, which brings us back to Mother Africa. In any case, creole food is super!
