Dance Parade NYC Archive

The Dance Parade NYC gets over 10,000 people dancing in New York City streets from the Flatiron District to the DanceFest dance festival at Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan’s East Village. It is usually held on the third Saturday in May.

Over 100 different styles of dance make it the world's largest display of cultural diversity.

The Dance Parade NYC was founded in 2006 to challenge New York City's Cabaret Law which prohibited dancing without a license. The law was enacted during the 1920s Jazz Age to keep kids from mixing in Harlem. It was appealed in 2017, but the Dance Parade just keeps growing.
