The Washington Square Arch (1892) is iconic NYC.

People like to gather around the Washington Square Fountain (1852).

Most events are held at Garibaldi Plaza, east of the fountain.

There are two dog runs along Washington Sq South.

Chess tables in the southwest corner are popular.

The Hangman’s Elm in the northwest corner may never have been used for hangings, but may be Manhattan’s oldest living tree.
