The Off-Broadway premiere of Dominique Morisseau’s Paradise Blue, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, is at The Signature Theatre in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan Tuesday – Sunday from April 24 – June 3, 2018.

Paradise Blue
In 1949, Detroit’s Blackbottom neighborhood is gentrifying. Blue, a troubled trumpeter and the owner of Paradise Club, is torn between remaining in Blackbottom with his loyal lover Pumpkin and leaving behind a traumatic past. But when the arrival of a mysterious woman stirs up tensions, the fate of Paradise Club hangs in the balance.

Paradise Blue is the centerpiece of The Detroit Projects trilogy by Obie award-winning Haitian – American playwright Dominique Morisseau (Skeleton Crew, Pipeline).

Paradise Blue is directed by Puerto Rican Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Piano Lesson, Jitney).
Santiago-Hudson directed the world premiere of Paradise Blue at the Williamstown Theater Festival in 2015.

Francois Battiste
Battiste is an American actor who graduated from Illinois State University, and then in acting from The Juilliard School in New York.
Battiste is known for his work in Head of Passes (2016) at The Public Theater, Person of Interest (2011), Ten Days in the Valley (2017), and You Bury Your Own (2015).
He is a 2009 Obie Award-winner for his performance in The Good Negro at The Public Theater.
Kristolyn Lloyd
Lloyd is an America actor from Houston Texas. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University.
Lloyd just came off of Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen.
J. Alphonse Nicholson
Nicholson is an American actor and percussionist from North Carolina.
He made his Off-Broadway debut in Freight: The Five Incarnations of Abel Greene which earned a New York Times critics pick. His television work includes Luke Cage (Marvel), Shots Fired (Fox), Mr. Robot Season 2 and Blue Bloods (CBS).

Keith Randolph Smith
Smith is an American actor on stage, television and film. He graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Smith’s Broadway credits include Fences, Come Back, Little Sheba, King Hedley II, The Piano Lesson and Salome. Off-Broadway he is known for Jitney.
His TV credits include Law & Order, Cosby, New York Undercover, and Onion SportsDome.
Smith’s film credits include Malcolm X, Girl 6, Fallout and Backstreet Justice.
