About

Radio City Music Hall was built in 1932 on a site that was originally planned for a new Metropolitan Opera House.

The 6,000-seat theater was called “The Showplace of the Nation.” Movies premiered there were almost always successful across the country.

The first “Christmas Spectacular” starring the Radio City Rockettes was in 1933.

The Hall was completely restored in 1999.
